6 October 2021: 10×10 hosted a salon with photographer Lanie McNulty at Planthouse Gallery in Manhattan.
Lanie McNulty is a Harlem-based artist and social activist. Her photography series include “Lifted Up in New York City,” “From the Ashes of Rwanda” and “The Angel in the House,” and her tapestry work includes a series called “Say a Little Prayer for U.S.” In her most recent photography work, she developed a collaborative process for creating staged, narrative images, which she calls “photo improv.” McNulty studied photography at the International Center of Photography and holds degrees from Dartmouth College, Harvard University, and Bank Street College of Education. Her recent photobook, The Angel in the House (Planthouse, 2021), takes on Virginia Woolf’s famous challenge in a collection of domestic interiors which collectively portray the outsized role women play trying to keep it all together.
And a big thank you to all our salon donors and our host, Katie Michel of Planthouse Gallery.
